TEXT MESSAGE TERMS & CONDITIONS
Effective November 5, 2026
PROGRAM
Brooklin Fire Alerts are text messages from the Brooklin Fire Department, a division of the Town of Brooklin, and the Brooklin Volunteer Fire Company, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Messages cover emergency alerts, road closures, burn bans and fire-danger notices, community safety information, and occasional Department and Fire Company news. If you choose to, you can also receive one message a year asking for support of the Brooklin Volunteer Fire Company.
This program is available only to U.S. mobile numbers.
OPTING IN
You receive messages only after you sign up and give your express consent to receive them at the mobile number you provide. Alerts and the annual support message are separate choices with separate checkboxes; you can sign up for either or both. Consent is not a condition of any purchase, donation or service. You must be the account holder for that number or have the account holder's permission.
MESSAGE FREQUENCY AND TIMING
Message frequency varies. It is typically a few messages a month, and more during emergencies. Non-emergency messages are sent only between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in your local time zone, and we send no more than three non-emergency messages in any 24-hour period. Emergency alerts may be sent at any time.
COST
Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details.
OPTING OUT
Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. We also honor other reasonable requests to stop, such as QUIT, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE or OPT OUT, or a request by phone or email. You will receive one message confirming you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages after that. To rejoin, sign up again or reply START.
HELP
Reply HELP for help, call 207.272.3360, or email tmorris@brooklinfd.org.
IMPORTANT
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Text alerts are a convenience and do not replace 911. In an emergency, always call 911.
PRIVACY
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers, text-messaging opt-in data, or consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Statement at www.brooklinfd.org/privacy-statement.
CHANGES
We may update these terms and will post changes on this page with a new effective date.
